American Legion Post 108 Creating Walk Of Honor
American Legion Post 108 has taken on a project to make a memorable addition to the historic Post property. American Legion Post 108, which was named the Post of the Year in the state of Oklahoma in 2009, has plans to install a Walk of Honor in the area of the front entrance of the Legion building. The building was placed on the National Registry of Historic Buildings in 2003 and is one of only three such buildings in Cushing - the others being the Cushing Armory and the home of Jack and Rosie Callen located on Broadway.
The Walk of Honor will be made of memorial bricks that are inscribed with information on veterans that have served or are serving in the military. The bricks will remain in place with the historic Post building to "ensure that future generations remember the veterans who responded to their country's call." A short bio and a description of military duties, assignments, etc. of each veteran honored will be compiled into a book to be kept at the Post.
Each brick can have up to three lines and up to 15 characters per line (including spaces and punctuation). All letters are 5/8 inch capital letters in the "Vermarco" font style and will be laser engraved on a 4 inch by 8 inch paving brick.
Anyone interested in purchasing a brick can contact any member of American Legion Post 108 or call Carey Seigle at (918) 225-4802. Order deadline June 1st.
