Acting on a citizen tip yesterday (Sunday, March 7th), Cushing police Officer Justin Sappington and MPO Bill McCarty recovered several items taken during the burglary at Merchandise Wholesalers, 121 E. Cherry Street, which was reported on Sunday, February 21, 2010. The property was recovered at a residence near the intersection of 5th and Steele Streets.

During the burglary at Merchandise Wholesalers, a thief forced entry into business and made off with dirt bikes and an assortment of motorcycle helmets. The dirt bikes, in addition to other property taken during the burglary, have yet to be recovered.

Today, MPO McCarty and Detective Adam Harp sent most of the day processing the recovered property for latent fingerprints using the department's newest piece of equipment, the latent fingerprint fuming chamber, in addition to other investigative techniques.

"I repeatedly insist that our citizens our best crime fighting asset, and the recovery of some of the stolen property yesterday exemplifies my insistence" Chief Terry Brannon said. "When we met with the business owner this morning, he was very pleased that some of his loss was recovered, which in the end is part of what our job is really all about. The other part continues to focus of identifying the person or persons responsible so they, too, can be held accountable" Brannon said.

As the investigation continues, police still need help locating the three (3) dirt bikes that were taken during the burglary, which are described as follows:

-Fazuma dirt bike, blue/white

-Xiongtai dirt bike, blue

-Sunl dirt bike, red/black

MPO Bill McCarty and Detective Adam Harp are continuing to handle this investigation cooperatively. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the police department at (918) 225-1212.
