Patti (Farris) Holman Brandle

Patti Lou (Farris) Holman Brandle died Sunday April 17th at the Linwood Village Nursing Home of complications of Lung Cancer.

A Cushing native Patti was born August 10, 1931 to Patsy (Vaughn) of Cushing and Luther Farris of Yale. She was married to Joe Holman in 1949 and lived in New Orleans LA. and Tulsa Ok until returning to Cushing in 1959, where she lived until her death. She married Verdun Lee Brandle of Cushing in1966.

Patti grew up around her maternal Grandmother Francis Vaughn's home at 845 East Broadway where her mother Patricia also lived until her death in 1964. She too became the caretaker for and lived in the Broadway home and worked for several years at the Hinds shoe store.  Patti and friends opened and operated the Broadway Mall in downtown Cushing at 118 East Broadway where she traded in antiques and collectibles until February of this year. She was a founding member and active for twenty plus years in the Cushing Genealogical Society and exchanged information with researchers across the country. Patti enjoyed sports and attended most of her grandson Trevor's football, baseball and basketball games at the Cushing schools. She also enjoyed fishing which she learned from her mother and taught her children and grandchildren.

Patti, Carolyn and several of their friends and classmates were founders of the Cushing Alumni Association. She with her friends were tireless volunteer workers promoting the reunions that have become an annual event each May in Cushing and supporting the Alumni Hall. She was honored to be the 2011 inductee into the Cushing Alumni Hall of Fame. She loved the town its history of homes, businesses and residents so much that in a February hospitalization in Stillwater she told them to check her out and send her home because she was not going to die anywhere but in Cushing.

She is preceded in death by her parents both husbands, her sister Connie (Farris) Hauschild and brother Mike Farris. She is survived by her son Greg Holman and wife Linda Carter Holman, daughter Susie (Holman) Abney and husband Rick, son Patrick Holman, son Eric Brandle and wife Stephanie. Grand children Dillon Holman, Roxanne (Holman) Wueste, husband Eric, JoHugh Holman and wife Ellen, Mark Holman and wife Marianne, Deanna Abney, Ricky Abney, Trevor Brandle and Tyler Brandle. Great-grand children Maximus Wueste, Kathe Wueste,  Kendall Abney, Jordan Abney, Anna Holman and Sammy Holman. Nephews Richard Hauschild, Dick Hauschild and Brent Farris. Niece Julie (Hauschild) Hinyup, Lorraine Farris, Heather Farris, Shanna Farris. Grand Niece Makaelee Hansberger, Grand Nephews Brock Farris and Ty Hansberger.  Sister in law Bonnie Farris.

Everytime we would be leaving after a visit Patti would say "Thanks for everything" so now it is our turn. "Patti, thanks for everything."

A memorial service is planned for 4:30 to 6:00pm on CHS Alumni weekend May 28th 2011 at the CHS Alumni Hall of Fame 116 E. Broadway in downtown Cushing. Please join us.
