The following information is based on a preliminary collision report furnished by the Department of Public Safety (DPS).

Public Safety Training for Active Shooter Response

On August 17, 2017 from 7:30 am – 1 pm members of the Cushing Police Department in conjunction with the Cushing Fire Department and the Cushing Public School System will conduct an active assailant/school shooting full scale training exercise at the Cushing Middle School located at 521 S. Harmony Rd in Cushing, OK. This training will focus on our response to an active shooter incident using a unified approach.

Advisory: Cushing Middle School access will be shut down today from 7:30 am – 1:00 pm for full scale exercise.

Cushing Police, Fire and Public Schools will be holding a full scale exercise today at the Cushing Middle School. As a safety precaution, all access roads leading into the site, will be closed to non-authorized traffic.

Stillwater Bail Bondsman Remains Jailed On Murder 1 Charge

A Stillwater bail bondsman accused of fatally shooting a client in the back at her office on Aug. 9 remains jailed without bail on a first-degree murder charge, District Attorney Laura Austin Thomas told KUSH today.

A Cushing man, who allegedly lost consciousness due to alcohol consumption, has been ordered to appear in Payne County District Court Monday on a felony charge accusing him of failing to provide adequate supervision for a 3-year-old child “who was found by neighbors wandering outside defendant’s dwelling,” on Saturday, according to court documents.
