Fatality Collision in Pawnee County
(Cushing, Okla.) The following information is based on a preliminary collision report furnished by the Department of Public Safety.
A fatality collision occurred earlier today (February 15th, 2017) at approximately 8:45 am on SH18, 3 miles north of Pawnee city limits, in Pawnee County.
Austin Lee Franks (22) of Fairfax was driving a 2005 Toyota Camry southbound on SH18, when the vehicle departed the roadway to the right for unknown reasons. Franks then over-corrected to the left, and entered into a broad slide across the roadway. The vehicle then departed the roadway to the left and struck 2 trees, then rotated ¾ turn and rolled 1 time, coming to rest on its wheels.
Dorcas Georgette Hall-Zotigh (19) of Pawnee, a passenger in the Franks vehicle was transported by ambulance to Stillwater Medical Center in stable condition. Hall-Zotigh was 32 weeks pregnant; her unborn child is deceased due to her injuries.
Franks was pronounced at the scene from his injuries and transported to Poteet Funeral Home in Pawnee.
According to the Department of Public Safety the collision was caused by a failure to maintain lane and the investigation is pending.
Some seat-belts were in use.
