Jimmy Ray Dykes, age 69 of Cushing, passed away on Saturday, March 04, 2017 in Tulsa.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Lawson Cemetery, Yale, Ok. Rev. Carl Stage will officiate.
Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Ok.
Jimmy was born on August 13, 1947 in Hominy, Oklahoma to the late Frank and Nellie (Patrick) Dykes. He grew up in Wynona, graduating from Wynona High School. Jimmy worked in the Oilfield as a tool pusher for many years. He and his family lived in Indiana, California, and Louisiana and finally back to Oklahoma where he retired from the Oilfield. Jimmy was a member of the Pentecostal Church where he loved singing, praising Jesus and playing his guitar. He enjoyed watching OU football and working on his sister’s farms, chopping wood, and especially giving others a hard time, as he put a smile on their face. Jimmy loved spending time with his family.
Jimmy is survived by his wife Shirley of the home, sons Kevin Dykes and wife Janette of Yale, James Patrick Dykes of Yale, Jimmy Ray Dykes Jr. of Tulsa, daughters Tonja Dykes of Lake Mills, Wisconsin, Kimerly Phillips of Lake Mills, Wisconsin, Patience Dykes of Tulsa, Shirley’s children: Mick Rose, Sam Rose, and Annette Watson, grand children: James, Karisma and Matt Watson, great grandchildren: Kayden, Kimbriegh, and Kase, Kyle Watson, and Danika Rose,, sisters Ruth Earp of Stroud, Rosa Mitchell of Cleveland, Louise Chambers of Skiatook, grandchildren Brittany Endicott and Jared, Kelsey Dykes, Brad Dykes, Brooke Dykes, Makenzie Flewellen, Tucker Phillips, Tyler Phillips, Serenity, Jordan, and Fallen, James, Karisma and Matt Watson, great grandchildren: Kayden, Kimbriegh, and Kase, Kyle Watson, and Danika Rose.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Frank Dykes Jr., sisters: Kay Bates, Edna Harber, granddaughter: Kayla Watson.
