Laurel Emily Bogert, longtime Cushing resident, passed from this life on March 2, 2017 surrounded by family and friends at the age of 39.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel.

Laurel was born on March 10, 1977 to Scott and Linda Bogert in Carson City, Nevada. She grew up in Oregon and Oklahoma. Since living in Oregon, Laurel loved being around the ocean and beach, and was an avid fan of the Oregon Ducks football team. Upon graduating high school, Laurel joined the United States Army. While in the Army, Laurel played saxophone for the military band. She and the band once played at the opening ceremonies at the Kentucky Derby. After being honorably discharged, Laurel worked for the Tulsa County Sheriff’s department for a couple of years and then transferred to the Cimarron Correctional Facility. She loved to spend time with her fiancé, Steve Leon, her two dogs, Buffy and Kujo, and family and friends.

Laurel was a beautiful, smart, kind, and loving individual who also loved animals. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Laurel is survived by her fiancé, Steve Leon; parents, Scott and Linda Bogert; one brother, Darrell Anderson and wife, Nicole; three sisters, Carla Tinkham and husband, John, Kasey Bogert, and D’Lynn Long and husband, Dan; two uncles, Lloyd Braim and wife, Barbara, and Ervin Seufert and his children, Kim and Kerry.

Laurel is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
