Dale Holmes, the son of Raymond and Cornelius (Coonrod) Holmes was born on September 29, 1932 in Mannford, Oklahoma. He passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Cimarron Point Nursing Home in Mannford at the age of 84 years.

 
Dale graduated from Mannford High School in 1950 – He attended O.S.U. majoring in Agriculture.

 
Dales Holmes and Ruthelma Maitlen were married on August 30, 1953 on the Maitlen family farm near Norfolk, Ok.

 
After their marriage, Dale was drafted into the army. At that time, they moved to Columbus, GA., where their first child, Teralea was born. 18 months later, they moved back to Oklahoma. Following the birth of their second child, Gary, in 1958 they became the owners of Gooding Hardware at 319 East Main in Cushing changing the name to Holmes Hardware. In 1962 Ruthelma and Dale were blessed with twins, Karen and Kevin. In 1968, they bought out Edmondson’s Hardware at 115 West Broadway in Cushing, combining the two and made that their new location. In 1974, they bought Dale’s parents store in Mannford, Ok. With Dale and Ruthelma owning stores in Cushing and Mannford, Dale ran the Mannford store while Ruthelma ran the Cushing store.
Dale enjoyed wood working, gadabouting around town and often taking friends to their Friday evening dinners. He also was enjoyed smoking meat and giving it to others.

 
Dale leaves behind his children Teralea Holmes of Bixby, Gary Holmes of Mannford, Kevin Holmes of Ft. Worth, TX, son-in-law Doug Baker and wife Kathie of Cushing, Six grandchildren Angela and her husband Dusten Hobson of Tulsa, OK., Jason and his wife Amber Beene of Houston, TX., Taylaura Baker of Edmond, Kyle Baker and his wife Brittany of Cushing, Foster Baker of Edmond, Kaitlen Holmes of Broken Arrow, OK., two great-grandchildren, Dale and Danae Hobson of Tulsa, OK. One brother Don Holmes and his wife Mary of Wichita, KS., and several nieces and nephews.

 
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruthelma and his daughter Karen Baker.

 
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 17, 2017 at Chapel of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK. Burial will follow in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
The Holmes family will be greeting friends and family on Saturday afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
