Jesse Roy Lynn, longtime Yale resident, passed from this life on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Drumright Nursing Home at the age of 89.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Yale.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Yale with Brother Mich Dershem officiating. Interment will follow at Lawson Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in our Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Yale.
Jesse was born on April 27, 1928 to John Henry and Elsie (Russell) Lynn in Hatfield, Arkansas. He grew up in Cove, Arkansas and graduated from Van-Cove High School. After high school, Jesse joined the United States Air Force and served his country proudly for 4 years before being honorably discharged. Jesse started work as a contractor in carpentry and built all across Oklahoma and Texas. In Texas, Jesse built hundreds of churches. While in Oklahoma, Jesse built cabinets and buildings for many local businesses and schools. Jesse took part in the moving of Jim Thorpe’s home to its location in Yale. Jesse married the love of his life, Zala Ruth, and spent many loving years together before her passing.
Jesse was a kind and giving individual. He would give a complete stranger the shirt off his back. Jesse was a charter member and pianist of Fellowship Baptist Church in Yale. Jesse was an avid fan of music. Growing up, Jesse and his family played music together. Jesse played the guitar and piano. He was a fan of playing hymns with his family and his church family. Serving God and playing music were Jesse’s favorite things in life.
Jesse was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Jesse is survived by two siblings, Elaine Harper of Drumright, and Carrol Lynn of Cypress, TX; one daughter, JoAnn Beaulieu; one grandson, Joshua Bozsan and one great grandchild.
Jesse is preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Elsie (Russell) Lynn; wife, Zala Ruth Lynn; one son, Steve Lynn; one daughter, Debbie Lynn. Jesse is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church Building Fund.
