Allen Gayhart, Jr

Allen Gayhart, Jr., age 84, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Baptist Village – Broken Arrow Memory Care Center.

 
He was born on December 16, 1932 in Kilgore, Texas to Allen and Erma Gayhart. His family moved to Cushing, Oklahoma in 1934, and Allen attended school there, graduating from Cushing High School in May, 1951.

 
Allen began working on pipelines when he was 14, and continued pipelining through the remainder of his life, with the exception of the time spent in U.S. Army from 1953 – 1955. Allen worked as superintendent for pipeline companies throughout the world, working in Canada, Germany, Australia, Malaysia, Brazil and the United States. While he was working on a pipeline in Illinois, Allen met Margret (Marg) Jane Barigar. They were married on October 10, 1952 and had three children, Bronk, Joe, and Monica. In 1974, Allen moved his family to Draton Valley, Canada and he lived in Canada until 1990. He would work a gold mine during the summer and would pipeline during the winter months. Marg preceded Allen in death in 1981. His best friends, Johnny and Imogene O’Rourke, introduced Allen to Opal Skinner in July 1992, and they were married on November 12, 1992.

 
He was preceded in death by his wife Marg, his parents, his four brothers, Cornie, Vernon, Bo and Carlos, his four sisters Sadie, Bessie, Ora and Sue and his granddaughter Linda Evelsizer.
He is survived by his wife Opal of Broken Arrow; his sons Bronk Gayhart and his wife Kathlene of Bend, Oregon, Joe Gayhart and his wife Penny of Marianna, Florida; his daughter Monica Cochran and her husband Rae of Marianna, Florida; stepchildren Tony and Donna Skinner and family, Cheryl and Skip Johnson and family and Greg and Connie Skinner and family; his sister Billie Savage of Mannford, Oklahoma; grandchildren Shannon, Travis and Toby Gayhart, Jolene and Alvie Ashbury, Derrick and Alli Gayhart and Amanda Gayhart; great-grandson Ryder Ashbury and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church with Larry Lehr, Pastor of Council Valley Baptist Church, officiating.

 
Burial will follow in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
