Donald Lee Thomas, longtime Perkins resident, passed from this life on Sunday, May 14, 2017 in Oklahoma City at the age of 82.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Perkins.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Perkins with Pastor Michael Cannon officiating.

Donald was born on November 5, 1934, in Middlesboro, Kentucky.  He grew up in Tennessee and Kentucky.    Donald joined the U.S. Army during the Korean War serving his country proudly.  He worked for Lazy Boy for several years in Tennessee before moving to Michigan then to Oklahoma City in 1986 where he began his career in finance and the appliance repair business.    Donald opened ABC Used Appliances and Repair in Stillwater in 1995, working and making friends throughout the years.  He and his wife closed the store a few weeks ago after he became ill.  He married Rosina “Ginger” Bailey on October 12, 1996 in Oklahoma City.  They made their home in Perkins.  They were faithful members of Immanuel Baptist Church where he also attended the Sr. Men’s Sunday school class.  Donald had 31 years of long term recovery in Alcoholics Anonymous.  He was a member of DAV and AARP.  Donald enjoyed going with his best friend Marvin Davis to watch Marvin’s grandchildren play T-Ball and many other sports.

He is survived by his wife Ginger Thomas of the home;  son, Donnie Thomas of Knoxville, TN;  step sons, Eugene McAvoy and Marc Neidlinger of Marysville, WA, Dennis McAvoy of Perkins;  daughters, Debbie Cogioloso and husband, Vincent of Dayton, TN, Tammy Vicry and husband, Tom of Dayton, TN; step daughters, Teresa Montambo and husband, Scott J. of Suffolk, VA,  Timmie Hoagland of Drain, OR, Sherry Lathe and husband Greg of Stillwater, OK; grandchildren Sabrina,  Vinney, Stephanie, Chelsea and Bryan, Shane and Mattie, Michael Wayne, Devon, Trevor, Dylan, Chase and Alexis; great grandchildren Tyler, Austin, Cameron, Hunter, Weston, Charleston, and Landon.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents.
