Tommy Joe Mendenhall, a longtime Yale resident, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at his home in Yale with his family by his side at the age of 70. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Lawson Cemetery, Yale, Ok. Brother Mich Dershem will officiate.

Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Yale, Oklahoma.

Tommy was born on April 28, 1947 in Chanute, Kansas to the late Tommy Elda and Mary Ann (Clawson) Mendenhall. He grew up in Chanute, graduating from Chanute High School I 1965. Tommy married the love of his life Fernanda Adsit on May 26, 1968 in Yale, Oklahoma. Tommy served in the National Guard for six years. He began his railroad career on the Katy Railroad in Chanute, Ks then moved to San Antonio where he was the youngest in the nation to become an Agent Train Master in 1971. They moved around following the railroad for many years, moving to Yale in 1990, retiring in 2015. They attended Fellowship Baptist Church. He enjoyed his dogs, cars, car show- corvette’s were his passion, and watching sprint car races. On any given day, you could find him driving around just about anywhere.

Tommy is survived by his wife Fernanda of the home, sons Phillip Mendenhall and wife Shelley of Yale, Richard Mendenhall of Yale, granddaughter and his pride and joy Chelsea Mendenhall, grandsons Houston Mendenhall and wife Olivia, Codi Mendenhall.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
