Michael Keith Franklin, lifelong resident of Cushing, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 13, 2017 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 63 years.
The son of the late Marvin L. Franklin and Doris Dell Anderson Franklin, Mike was born on October 18, 1953 in Cushing, Oklahoma, graduating from Cushing High School with the class of 1971.
While working beside his father at Franklin plumbing, Mike became a licensed contractor in the field of plumbing and heat and air. He later worked for Cushing plumbing, retiring in 2012 due to health issues. He was united in marriage to Debbie Eversole on June 20, 1992.
Mike was an avid University of Oklahoma fan. He enjoyed the art mediums of drawing and painting. He will be remembered for his 4th of July parties, but most of all the father figure that he was to so many.
He is survived by his wife Debbie of the home. He is also survived by their children, Angie Keeley and her husband Jody of Livingston, TX, Jessica Phelps, Joshua Phelps, Andrew Phelps and Kyle Franklin of Cushing; two sisters, Vickie Case and her husband Clifford and Mary Maitlen and her husband Randy; one brother Leslie Franklin; three grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Lex Phelps and one sister-in-law Terri Franklin.
The family will greet friends on Friday evening, June 16, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Floyd Family Center, east of the Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Pastor Jim Wilhelm officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF), cancer research, in his memory.
