James Bickell

James Gerald Bickell, lifelong Cushing resident, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017 in Tulsa at the age of 66 years.

The son of the late Chester Everett Bickell and Adaline Kyser Bickell, James was born on March 9, 1951 in Cushing and was raised and educated in Cushing, graduating from Cushing High School with the class of 1967.

James was united in marriage to Darla Smith in May 1971 and to this union three children, Cortney, Kylie and Brian, were born.

James attended the 1st Assembly of God Church. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren; loved to make people laugh and never met a stranger. He was a professional movie watcher; his favorite movies were western’s, comic movies, especially the Avengers; he and his sister would each watch Super Girl and then discuss what happened over the phone. He would quote movies, poems or songs to try and brighten your day. James also enjoyed being with his dog, Barron II.

Survivors include his daughters, Cortney Bickell and Kylie Herron both of Cushing; son, Brian Bickell and wife, Daniqua, of Edmond; grandchildren, Chelsey Bickell, Caleb Bickell, Cambrey Harrison, River Herron, Casin Sanders, soon to arrive Isla James Ward, James Bickell and Darla Bickell; several great-grandchildren; brother, Victor Bickell and his wife, Mary, of Cushing; sister, Alberta Johnson of Lebanon, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jim Johnson.

Family and friends will celebrate James life on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Lifeline Assembly Church with Pastor Tim Jolly officiating.

The family will greet friends on Thursday evening from 6:30 – 8:30 in the Floyd Family Center, East of the funeral home.
