Jim Hayter, a longtime Cushing resident passed away on July 5, 2017 at his home in Cushing. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Cushing, Ok.

Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Ok.

Jim was born on Feb 1, 1945 to LeRoy and Margurite Hayter. He married his sweetheart Velma Pittser on November 30, 1989 in Las Vegas. Jim loved his family and was an avid drag car enthusiast with a wealth of knowledge in making cars go Fast! Jim led a very full life.

He entered the Air force in Dec 1965 and was honorably discharged in 1970. Jim loved to watch old western shows. In 1971 he was the AHRA World Champion, and he held many drag racing records.

Racing was always his passion and he had a talent for making things go fast!

50 year drag racing veteran working for many different teams and guiding them to victories with his talents. Through the years, Jim enjoyed working outside on the property with his wife and playing with the grandchildren.
Jim touched many lives and will surely be missed among family and friends and the drag racing community.

Jim is survived by his sisters Jane Jenkins and Judy Trout, and many nieces and nephews,
his Children Crystal Hayter, Byron Pittser & his wife Susan, Scott Pittser,
Grandchildren Payton Hayter, Kyle Pittser & his wife Brandy, Ashleigh Pittser, Brittany Pittser, Kendall Pittser & his wife Tiana, Dylan Pittser, Brianna Pittser, Chelsea Pittser, Dalton Pittser, Sabrina Pittser and Miranda Pittser, Great Grandaughter Gabriella Pittser.
Jim was proceeded in death by His wife Velma Hayter, his Mother Margurite Hayter, his Father LeRoy Hayter, his Brother Don Hayter.
