Drumright Chamber Spotlight for July

Media Release

Right Path 2017

The July 2017 CHAMBER SPOTLIGHT is The Right Path Riding Academy.  The Right Path, a 501c3 non-profit organization, has been providing therapeutic equine-assisted activities for children and adults with special needs since 1996.  Although expenses of this ministry are considerable, all services are provided free of charge.

Joshalyn Ocker is the Director of Operations for The Right Path; “We don’t really see ourselves as competing with other programs that offer equine-assisted activities, as there are so many special needs individuals who can benefit from these services.  We do offer the only therapeutic carriage driving program in the state.  We are also a very family-oriented program.”

“We are premiere accredited by PATH, our international safety and standards body.  All of our programs are taught by PATH Intl. certified instructors.  We offer customized weekly riding and carriage driving classes to those with physical disabilities, cognitive impairments, at-risk teens, and veterans.  A literacy program using horses to instill the love of reading in first graders is offered in the winter and spring.”

As one of only two centers in Oklahoma that are premiere accredited, The Right Path Riding Academy has made a far-reaching, positive impact in our town and state.  “Drumright and Bristow school’s special needs classes currently ride here.  Literacy program serves Drumright, Oak Grove, Cushing, Bristow, Tulsa specialty schools, OU Children’s Hospital, and more.  Many local individuals, businesses, foundations, and community groups (Masons, Lion’s Club, Rotary…) have supported us financially.  Central Tech provides printing services and student volunteers.  We are grateful to all!”

When Mrs. Ocker was asked what her favorite thing is about Drumright?  “The can-do attitude of Drumrighters.  The support they offer each other.  There’s always a bean dinner to support someone’s needs.”  The Right Path Riding Academy is located south of Drumright, at 16620 Old Shamrock Highway.  Call (918-352-4110) or email (walkon@rightpathridingacademy.org) for program information, ways to volunteer, or to make a financial contribution.  More information can also be found on The Right Path’s website at rightpathridingacademy.org
