Daisy Lydia Sneed, a longtime Yale resident, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 in Mannford, surrounded by her family at the age of 98. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the First Assembly of God Church in Yale. Interment will follow at Lawson Cemetery, Yale, OK.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Yale, OK.

Daisy was born on April 14, 1919 in Payne County, Oklahoma to the late William Franklin and Loma Millie (May) Ellington. She attended Lone Chimney School in Pawnee. Living in rural Pawnee for about ten years then moving back to Payne County. Daisy married the love of her life LeRoy Russell Sneed on May 20, 1937 at the Pawnee Court House. They lived on a farm in Yale and raised five children together. Daisy was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God where she taught Sunday school, song leader, and Sunday school church secretary. Daisy began her career as a cook at the Yale school cafeteria, where she was the bread maker. They made all the breads from scratch and were absolutely delicious. She baked fried pies and donuts to sell to help fund the Old First Assembly of God. Daisy was known for her Cinnamon Rolls, Cakes and Coconut Pies. She made recipe books for her granddaughters in her own hand writing.

Survivors include her sons Leslie Howard Sneed and wife Rita of Yale, Richard Lee Sneed and wife Beverly of Gardner, KS, Mark Sneed and wife Linda of Smithville, MO., daughter Barbara Sherman of Yale, son-in-law Roy Gazaway of Yale, brother Howard Ellington and wife Oleta of Yale, 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 21 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband LeRoy Sneed, daughter Patricia Gazaway, infant son Paul Bryan Sneed, son-in-law Duane Sherman, grandson Joshua Russell Sneed, great great grandchildren Kevin Bloom and Tynlee Holloway, sister Goldie Lamons.
