Larry McMillan, Sr

Larry McMillan, Sr., longtime Cushing resident, passed away on August 30, 2017 at the age of 73 years.

The son of the late Clarence McMillan and Violet Beatrice Chadwick, Larry was born on March 5, 1944 in Yale, Oklahoma and was raised in Colorado. Larry served in the United States Army before moving to Cushing.

Larry was united in marriage to Phyllis Mae Sams on January 14, 1965 in Cushing. To this union three children, Larry, Laura and Lucinda, were born. Phyllis preceded him in death on November 6, 2010.

Larry was a member and served as a Deacon at Park Place Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, sports and watching wrestling. His current hobby was finding Pokemon; he was great at spotting Pokemon on the road, at the stopping points and even in his hospital room. Larry was a kid at heart.

He drove a truck for Ahrberg Mill for over 20 years; then drove for Mill’s Trucking until his retirement.

Survivors include his three children, Larry McMillan, Jr. and his wife, Tracy, of Guthrie, Laura Garrison of Edmond and Lucinda Adams and her husband, Ruben, of Guthrie; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; siblings, Howard McMillan of Missouri, Arlene Griffin of Gore, Oklahoma, Richard Williams of South Carolina and Carrie Paulette Sporleder of Kansas; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, including his niece who was like a daughter, Elizabeth Lee and his granddaughter who cared for him, Miranda McMillan.

In addition to his parents and wife, Larry was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy Williams, Lloyd Williams and Wade Williams and one sister, Doris Williams.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Park Place Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Brown officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.

The family will greet friends on Monday evening from 5 – 7 in the Floyd Family Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Davis Funeral Home to defray funeral expenses.
