Ruby Faye Smith, born July 19, 1943 to the late Richard and Avis James passed away September 28, 2017 at her home in Cushing, OK. Ruby was born in DeWitt, AR. And at the age of 12 the family moved to California where she lived until 2012. She moved to Cushing and lived until her death.

Ruby graduated from high school in 1962 and started working from Bank of America in the Welfare department in California until retiring.

Ruby stayed in California and spent a lot of time seeing to her dad’s needs until he passed away in 2011. After moving to Cushing, she bought her home and enjoyed tending to her flowers and spending time with family. Most of her life, she lived away from the family, so she loved being close to everyone.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband William Smith, her grandparents, parents, Richard and Avis James; nieces: Becky James, Cindy James, Nancy Rader, Sherry Gladden; nephews: Gary Rossiter, Derrick Rossiter, and Bryce Rossiter.

Those left behind to mourn her passing were her siblings, Margaret Rader and husband, Joe of Wichita, KS, Floye Rossiter and husband, Allen of Cushing, Bud Richard James of San Tan Valley, AZ, Calvin James and wife, Diana of Cushing; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.


Ruby made many friends when she moved to Oklahoma. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday October 2, 2017 at Parkland Cemetery with Brother Danny Godwin officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
