Gerald (Jerry) Mills passed away October 26, 2017 at the Grace Living Center at the age of 87.
Memorial Services have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Oilton, Oklahoma.
Services will be held on Monday October 30, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the First Freewill Baptist in Oilton, Oklahoma.
Jerry was born on August 15, 1930 to Oscar and Juanita Mills. He grew up mostly in the Oilton, Oklahoma area. He graduated from High School in Burley, Idaho where he lived with his grandparents for three years.
He moved back to Oklahoma, joined the United States Army, and went to Korea for two years where he received a bronze star for bravery.
Gerald married the love of his life Colleen Patton on August 5th, 1952 and to this union two daughters were born Debra and Teressa. He has worked as a pipeliner and in the oilfield, then later completed trade school courses and started his own business as Jerry’s Appliance and Refrigeration for 45 years.
Jerry served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and Youth Director in his Church. He also served 20 years on the Oilton Fire Department, 18 years on City Council, and 4 years as Mayor.
In addition, he as a 50 year Mason Member, American Legion Member, President of the Oklahoma Heat Pump Association of the Northeast Oklahoma Chapter for 3 years, and was involved with Oilton Senior Citizens where he helped get the center a building and parking lot off of Hwy 99. Jerry loved his Church family dearly.
Jerry is survived by his wife of over 65 years Colleen Mills, two brothers: Kenneth Mills and wife Arlene, and Junior Mills, two daughters: Debra Lane and husband Gary, and Teressa Humble and husband John, four grandchildren: Ryan Humble and wife Emily, Brad Lane and wife Shelley, Kyle Humble and wife Lacey, and Kayla Pollard and husband Brandon, nine great grandchildren: Seth, Jack, Asa, Caleb, Kiley, Faith, Ryker, Brayden, and Ellie, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Juanita, one sister: Patricia, and one brother: Bobby.
