Charles Wayne Carroll, age 87 of Perkins, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Renaissance in Stillwater.  Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 2, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Perkins.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK.

Charles was born on August 30, 1930 in Depew, OK to Clinton and Beatrice (DeSha) Carroll.  He grew up in Stillwater. While attending high school his National Guard Unit was deployed to fight in the Korean War. After returning from the war he received his High school diploma. He began working for the USDA as an entomologist. On June 27, 1959 he married Margaret Hunt. They were married for 56 years. Charles attended Oklahoma State University studying Wildlife Management. As a student he worked for OSU Small Grains before transferring to the Ft. Cobb Research Station where he was foreman over peanut research. Returning to Perkins in 1970, he continued working for OSU for several more years before working for Moore Business Forms and later Oklahoma Crop Improvement. Charles proudly served in the 45th Infantry Division for the Army National Guard for over 30 years.

Charles was as a Deacon at First Baptist Church Perkins and served on many building committees.  While living at the Renaissance he attended Bible Baptist Church in Stillwater faithfully until his passing.  He spent many hours in the outdoors and enjoyed taxidermy, wood carving, hunting, fishing, growing flowers, gardening, and bird watching. The last two years, he had grown and shared tomatoes with residents at the assisted living center. Charles enjoyed taking his grandchildren fishing.

Survivors include daughter Kelly and husband Lynn Kinder of Perkins, OK., son Robert and wife Pam Carroll of Perkins, OK., son Jimmy and wife Becky Carroll of Perkins, OK., grandchildren, Brian and wife Dana Carroll, Chris and wife Jennifer Carroll, Linden Kinder, Anna Kinder, Hannah and husband Jake Hart, Caleb and wife Andrea Carroll, Kyle Kinder, Kristen and husband Logan Walcher, Hailey Carroll, and Conner Carroll, great grandchildren, Carson Carroll, Lainey Carroll, Beau Williams, Emma Hart, Hudson Carroll, Harper and Heath Carroll, sister-in-law Betty Dry of Perkins, OK, and brother in law Raymond Silvers of Perkins, OK.

He is preceded in death by his wife Margaret, his parents, sister in law Alice Silvers, and brother in law Lewis Dry.

Visitation will be at the FBC Perkins from 10-12 on Thursday. Memorials may be made to the FBC Perkins Building Fund.
