John Albert Cargill, longtime Cushing resident, passed from this life on December 31, 2017 at his home surrounded by family. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 in the Palmer Marler Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Jeromye Jackson officiating.

Interment will follow at Flynn Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.

 
John Albert was born on November 18, 1926 in Shamrock, OK to Orgle and Myrtle (Winkleman) Cargill. He attended school in the Shamrock and Drumright areas. Growing up, John Albert and his cousins made their very own man cave, and called it “The Dugout”. It was a special area that they built from the ground up. Only a select few were allowed in. John Albert left school early to serve his country in the United States Army at the end of World War II. He served his country proudly before being honorably discharged. After returning back into the states, John Albert fell head over heels in love with Jo Ann Pruitt and married her on September 10, 1948. Jo Ann was part of the select few who was able to see inside The Dugout before being married. John Albert and Jo Ann had three loving daughters: Debra, Karen, and Dena.

 
John Albert was a hardworking man and worked from sun up to sun down. John Albert and Jo Ann’s ran a dairy farm for multiple years. He was a carpenter at heart and built his family’s house and helped remodel houses of his relatives. John Albert worked hard to make sure his girls had everything, because family and their love was the only thing he ever needed.

 
John Albert was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.

 
John Albert is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jo Ann; three daughters, Debra Ann Lynch and husband, Bob of Cushing, Karen Teters and husband, John of Stroud, Dena Stallworth of Cushing; two brothers, Danny Cargill and wife, Joyce, David Cargill and wife, Susie; one sister, Marybell Casey and husband, Don; one sister-in-law, Wanda Cargill. John Albert is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

 
John Albert is preceded in death by both parents, Orgle and Myrtle Cargill; one brother, Randal Cargill and two grandchildren, Brandin Wright and Lacy Teters.
