Travis J. Jones “chin dog”, 39, a lifelong Cushing resident passed from this life on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born in Cushing on October 24, 1978 to parents Elmer and LaVanta Gaye Jones. Travis grew up in Cushing attending school there and graduating from Cushing High School in 1997. After High School he attended Oklahoma State University and was a member of Kappa Sigma. After attending college for a year, Travis decided to follow his passion of working in construction and became a framer.

Travis loved motorcycles and was always ready for a ride on his Harley Davidson. He also loved reading and watching movies, especially sci-fi and westerns. He shared this passion with his nieces and nephews (some of which were his friend’s kids he “adopted”). Travis loved spending time with them and spent countless hours sharing in their lives. All who were privileged to play cards with Travis knew to look out for his “creative” ways of winning!

Travis knew no stranger, and was friendly to all he encountered. He had a caring heart and would even go pick up Courtney from work early in the morning after working all night because he wanted her to get home safely.

Travis is survived by his fiancé, Courtney Ishmael; her children he loved as his own, Eli Ishmael and Ryder Hulse; parents, Elmer and LaVanta Gaye Jones of Cushing; brother, Will Jones and wife Melissa, and their son Elijah NcNew of Ringgold, GA; aunts, Sherri Hutchison and husband Tony, Becky Roe and husband Bud; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

Travis is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and June Martin, and Dennis and Edna Jones.
